Klopp’s departure Is leaving uncertainty for Liverpool

Klopp announced he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season due to him feeling like he needs a rest. He has already promised he will never manage another Premier League club and will take a year's break. This still left Liverpool fans and staff heartbroken after such a successful reign under the German manager.

So, who will replace the shoes of Jurgen Klopp? There have been many names floating about, at first many believed former player Xavi Alonso would be the next manager. The Spaniard has just won the Bundesliga title for the first time in Bayer Leverkusen's history. He has recently revealed that he will stay at Leverkusen for at least one more year which has forced Liverpool’s board to look elsewhere.

Klopp has built all his squad and they are fully integrated into Klopp’s style of play. Some huge names will be linked with some big moves away as Klopp leaves. Salah, Van Dijk and Alison just to name three that fans will be anxious about leaving. They will hope the new manager will keep them at the club and play an attractive style of football that also brings results. It’s going to be a huge change no matter who comes in, Klopp has developed a new-look squad that many managers would love to take on.

Who are the favourites to be the next Liverpool Manager?

Arne Slot

Within the last week, a new name has come forward in Arne Slot. The Feyenoord manager who is known for his intense playing style is very similar to Klopp. He has a record of improving young talent, success on a relatively modest budget, and has European experience. Slot is now the bookie's favourite to join Liverpool after very positive talks. Liverpool say they have done extensive research on the Dutch manager and believe he is the best fit for the Merseyside club.

It will take a compensation fee in the region of €10m to release him from the final two years of his Feyenoord contract. Liverpool believe this is worth the money, many clubs are interested in the Feyernord manager including Bayern Munich. Barcelona were interested however, Xavi has revealed that he will now stay at Barcelona.

He guided the team to the inaugural UEFA Conference League final in his first season, losing to Roma in the final, and third in the Eredivisie. Having extended his contract in the summer of 2022, Slot then won the title for the first time since 2017. This was a monumental achievement and they did it in style beating the likes of Ajax and PSV who have a much bigger budget.

Ruben Amorin

A name who is the front runner for the job is Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorin. At only 39 years of age, he has been in the mix for many major jobs across Europe. Known for playing high pressing and possession football he has had a brilliant time at Sporting.  He has won the league once and the cup twice with the Lions despite playing for Lisbon rivals Benfica and he also led SC Braga to a Portuguese cup title in the first of three consecutive wins across two different clubs.

This is not the first time he has been linked with a Premier League club as he was heavily linked with Aston Villa. Amorin has decided to wait out for the right project and Liverpool is by far and away the biggest EPL team to be interested. The red side of Merseyside have strong competition with Bayern Munich who also are in need of a new manager after an agreement that Tomas Tuchel will leave the club in the summer after a disappointing domestic campaign.

Amorin is likely to add to his trophy tally as Sporting leads the way by 10 points and this will lead to Amorin being one of the best managers in Sporting's history. The club will try everything they can to keep him.

There is no doubt that the transition from Estadio Jose Alvalade to Anfield would be a challenge for Amorim but he has rarely been out of big club environments which prepares him well for this next challenge. Amorin will have a big decision to make at the end of the season. There is no doubt that Liverpool will tempt him and not many managers turn down the chance to manage one of the biggest clubs in world football. Obviously, there may be some doubts due to his management in the Portuguese league but Liverpool will give Amorin time to build on top of what is already a brilliant squad.

Roberto De Zerbi

Another manager who has been linked is Brighton boss De Zerbi. The Italian has had huge success on the southern coast. He has been linked with a lot of top jobs since his arrival to Brighton. Playing a possession-based game, he has got his side winning in style.

De Zerbi took over Brighton after Potter left for Chelsea midway through the season. Many believed they would struggle but De Zerbi has added to the team and pushed them on even further. This has led Brighton to be favourites in most home games they play, this includes playing Manchester United.

A big difference between De Zerbi and Amorin is that De Zerbi has got Premier League experience. He has been at Brighton for long enough to know what the Premier League requires to win. Liverpool obviously have a lot more talent at their disposal. De Zerbi has already spoken publicly about his future and has expressed his intentions to speak to the Brighton board to see what promises can be made to improve Brighton.

Many Liverpool fans would be delighted with De Zerbi as they believe he can provide much-needed Premier League experience. He has also had experience with taking over a well-drilled side, instead of changing too much he added to the side and made them arguably a better side.

Who are the outsiders to be the next Liverpool Manager?

Pep Lijnders

Klopps assistant manager has been learning from the best during his tenure. However, his recent links with Besiktas now make him an outsiders chance to take the head coach position.

Julian Nagelsmann

The German National team coach is unlikely to make a move before Euro 2024. Providing Liverpool still havent filled the position before the Euros he could still be an outsiders choice.

Liverpool will want to make sure they make the right decision, filling Klopp’s shoes will be hard but not impossible. It will be hard to have the same effect that Klopp has had but Liverpool fans will welcome any name in and make sure they back him till the end. Liverpool has a huge character and they need a manager to match that. Other names have floated around and will carry on to be rumoured until a manager is permanently appointed.
