1 Switzerland beating France. The upset of the tournament! Everyone was expecting France to sail through against Switzerland. Switzerland managed to valiantly get the scoreline to 3-3 after a 2 goal deficit. After an unbelievable round of penalties, Mbappe stepped up for Frances’ final penalty. Unexpectedly he missed, leaving Switzerland to slot their final penalty and head through to the next round, beating the tournament favourites.
2 Harry Kane’s goal against Germany. Everyone had been waiting for the England Goal machine to switch on at the Euros. It took until the last 16 for Harry Kane to finally score in the tournament. Since then, he has scored 2 against Ukraine. Can he score any more tomorrow against Denmark?
3 Spain v Croatia. Spain v Croatia managed to provide a record-breaking encounter. The second-highest scoring goal fixture of the tournament history. Spain was leading 3-1 but with two late goals from Croatia, it meant extra time and a chance for Spain to show their worth and bag 2 more goals in extra time finishing the game at 5-3.
4 Ukraine’s last-minute winner against Sweden. The Swedish side was looking the favourites to go through until Ukraine had other ideas. Serhiy Sydorchuk hit the post for Ukraine while Forsberg should have had a hattrick, if not for two shots that hit the post. Sweden’s Marcus Danielson saw a straight red for a dangerous tackle in extra-time as well. However, in the absolute dying phase of the extra-time, a 121st-minute winner from Artem Dovbyk sent his nation into the final eight.
