Scott Smith – Football Flick Academy Profile
Scott Smith: Football Flick Academy has been a shining light in times of difficulty for young talent of all ages across the North West. We’ve supported hundreds of kids since lockdown restrictions eased across the UK. Our Football Flick Academy team have been running COVID-Secure training sessions with up to 5 kids, from Under 6’s up to academy level players, on the cusp of a scholarship or a professional contract.
During this series we’ll be taking a look at some of the best talent to come through our Academy in recent weeks. They speak about their journey so far and about how Football Flick Academy’s top level coaching & World Class equipment that is on offer at each session has improved their overall game during a global pandemic.
Scott Smith is a swashbuckling Midfielder for Wigan Athletic & Wales U19. He came to the Football Flick Academy looking for some high-level coaching to help him keep him close to the high standards he sets himself.
Speaking exclusively to Football Flick, Smith spoke of how the academy has helped him during the global pandemic and lockdown.
“With the current situation that’s going on at the moment & the facilities we’ve got here, it’s phenomenal to help us all keep fit.”, “It’s great for when we go back, because when we do go back, we’re back and we’re ready.”
Having a safe & COVID secure venue for the future generations is something we’re delighted to be able to support with. It also gives the opportunity for the players like Smith & our academy level coaches to get creative in a small space & different environment with our range of football training equipment. With restricted group sizes of 5 and a smaller space to work in, our Urban Range & Training Essentials Range were a perfect fit at the Academy. Scott echoed these thoughts: “I needed something to do over the period where I wasn’t in training and then I found Football Flick [Academy]”, “I feel it has helped me as it’s kept me fit and also improved me technically. A lot of its technique based, the short & sharp stuff really & it’s what will improve massively, so when I go back it should show.”

If you could give some advice to your younger self, what would it be?
“Work on what I was weak at back then more than I already did”
