Andy Kanga: Football Flick Academy has been a shining light in times of difficulty for young talent of all ages across the North West. We’ve supported hundreds of kids since lockdown restrictions eased across the UK. Our Football Flick Academy team have been running COVID-Secure training sessions with up to 5 kids, from Under 6’s up to academy level players, on the cusp of a scholarship or a professional contract.
During this series we’ll be taking a look at some of the best talent to come through our Academy in recent weeks. They speak about their journey so far and about how Football Flick Academy’s top level coaching & World Class equipment that is on offer at each session has improved their overall game during a global pandemic.
Andy Kanga age 19, began his football career at the Liverpool FC Academy and from there went on to finish a scholarship with Blackpool FC. He came to the Football Flick Academy looking to sharpen his technique & improve his fitness after lockdown as he searches for a new club to ply his trade.
The attacking midfielder hadn’t come across Football Flick before or the Football Flick Academy, but was introduced to it through a friend during the period of him looking for a club. When speaking to Kanga about Football Flick he told us, “Yes it has helped me stay fit and ready as well as keeping me sharp technically.” Andy heaped praise onto the Academy level coaching he received at the Academy, “The intensity of the training has benefited me in terms of fitness. It makes it harder to keep the quality high in the drills which is good if you want to get better.”
Kanga came into football from grassroots level, before being scouted by Liverpool FC at an under 6s, continuing his development with the club until he was 16. He moved to Blackpool on a scholarship at 16 & is now looking for a new club to try and achieve his dream of becoming ‘top player’ who ‘made a name’ for himself in the game.
Being sharp & ready to showcase his ability despite the pandemic has been vital after turning 18 this season. It means he’s available, prepared and feeling confident to sign for a contract with a professional outfit when the time comes. With the help of Football Flick Academy & the World’s #1 Football Training Range, we’re delighted that Andy Kanga will be on form and in the best shape when the interest comes flooding in the near future.
Football Flick are honoured to have been such an important part of his journey. There are thousands of kids all across the world who wish to be in Andy’s position, so we asked him…
If you could give some advice to your younger self, what would it be?
“I’d tell my younger self to focus on myself and practice more away from training to get ahead of the other players.”
Whether it is in the back garden, grassroots football, or the Football Flick & Liverpool FC Academy, or even in a professional team, the World’s #1 Training Range is for everyone.
